"Beast" - that is what Eric Blake (hurricane specialist) is calling Hurricane Genevieve. Now a category 4 storm with winds up to 130mph. This is the third hurricane in the Eastern Pacific just east of Baja Mexico which has now rapidly strengthened in the last 24 hours from a category 2 to a 4 major storm. I think the only people who truly love hurricanes are storm chasers and us surfers - this is what get's us excited. The storm is moving northwest at 16mph which is what we need it to do in order to bring much needed high surf to Southern and Northern California. The crazy thing is the National Hurricane Center or NHC is calling "additional rapid strengthening is possible during the next 12 to 24 hours".
