Roll 3 - Ethan White Riding In Kauai, Hawaii On A Vintage 250
Ethan White surprisingly showed up in Kauai with no bike and no plan alongside with his girlfriend Mara Ohara. The funny thing was I was just telling Brody about this guy I had gave a shirt to a few weeks earlier at the Born Free show, but had no clue what his name was. Then all of a sudden I look over in the pit area and that guy (Ethan White) is standing right in front of Brody and I. I look at Brody and say something like "that's the guy right there." So Brody was out on a practice run on one of Rick Hurst modern bikes and I asked Ethan to let's go get some shots of him riding. He had my mustard yellow Full Throttle tee on, Brody's yellow 250 2stroke Yamaha and borrowed GT"s vintage Vonzipper mx goggles. We were gone around 30 minutes and bolted back cause Brody needed this bike back. Ethan is wearing a open face helmet from Scorpion USA, Von Zipper goggles, Levi jeans and White's Boots.
That's my canon 600mm that I have been using to shoot surfing since I was fresh out of high school and now in my forties I am shooting moto with it. With the motocross tracks being so big it has come in handy. I will never call myself a motocross photographer or any other type photographer for that matter - I will always proudly consider myself a surf photographer first and foremost. Side note: I use a canon EOS 1vhs body and 35mm film. (I hate digital)
This is what it looks like photographing Ethan with a canon 600mm lens
Ethan mentioned to me "Where The Sea Meets The Dirt" - for the surf there was a pretty good right hand wave out front of our resort, but that paddle out was pretty far
I put on my 15mm fisheye lens just for another perspective
Felt like we we're more in the forest then at the beach - had kind of a french vibe with the trees
