Pro Surfer Mikala Jones Passes Away at 44

Sadly I just received the news that Hawaiian pro surfer Mikala Jones has passed away due to a surfing accident in the Mentawai Islands. Mikala has a brother Daniel and a sister Malia who are both former pro surfers and models. All grew up on the North Shore of Oahu at Rocky Point with their father John. John was an avid surf photographer. Mikala got his first major break into the surf industry with title sponsor Rip Curl in which had Mikala traveling non stop around the world in which I think that burnt him out fast. Mikala traveled the world with his childhood friends Jason Bogle, Jamie Obrien, Joel Centeio, Fred Patachia and others. Mikala later signed with Split clothing as the number one team rider then last with Reef.
