Breakers - Hawaiian Style Restaurant Opens In Encinitas California
It’s official—Breakers Restaurant is now open at 481 Santa Fe Drive in Encinitas, California. Founded by former professional surfer Benji Weatherley, Breakers marks his newest entrepreneurial venture.
Benji rode for iconic surf brands including Rusty, Justice, Xanadu, Analog, Billabong, Dragon, OAM, Gravis, and Anon, among others. He’s also widely known as a member of the legendary Momentum Generation—an influential group of early ’90s surfers that included Ross Williams, Shane Dorian, Taylor Knox, Rob Machado, Kelly Slater, Timmy Curran, Kalani Robb, along with filmmaker Taylor Steele.
The original Breakers has deep roots in surf history. It was owned by Benji’s mother on the North Shore of Oahu in the small town of Haleiwa, where Benji worked growing up—making this new Encinitas location a true continuation of a family legacy.
Music appearances at Breakers have included Matt Grundy, Donavon Frankenreiter with his son Hendrix, Garrett Dutton (G. Love), Jack Johnson, Steve Sherman, David Elecciri, and Albert Hurtado.
