Nick Plus Micah Equals State Of Ethos
Photos from the October 24th SoCal Vintage MX Classic 11 hosted by 100% held at Glen Helen Raceway. The only riders I knew we're Nick Lapaglia, Micah Davis and Steve Caballero (I was a skater in my younger years). I chose to shoot black and white based on it was overcast this day. Major props to Nick as this guy is a freak (in a good way) on how many races he raced and won. I brought four rolls of Ilford 400asa print film, Canon eos1vhs body, 70-200 and a 600mm. Every time I go to these races I feel I am still learning, but enjoy having no pressure on me to come back with a shot for somebody other then myself. With that said I hope you enjoy these shots I selected to post of Nick and Micah both racing for State Of Ethos.
Nick number 17 and Micah 118 - Starting gate of the Marty Smith Memorial Cup
Micah getting the better start
Nick putting it on edge
The last jump - going for a full frame look
Micah coming down the first big turn
Digging these boots
In this fall Micah was able to pass Nick, but Nick got back up and won (another race he fell again when his chain came off)
My favorite shot of Nick from this day - don't even know what jump this was, but when I got this shot back I was surprised to see him so high
Digging the all white - looks really good in b&w photos
Nick "The Holeshot" Lapaglia
Go Micah, he's coming for you!
Just like in bull riding shorter guys are better in motocross (Tomac 5'9, Villopoto 5'8, Carmichael 5'6, Dungey 5'10) - in the next two shots you can see the height difference
Don't worry Micah girls like tall guys =)
My favorite shot of Micah from this day
I like Nick's airs, he's always tweeking them out someway
Scary how close the spectators can get to the action
Last shot with another one of my fav's
